Today marks the kickoff of the annual London Book Fair – the annual marketplace for the global publishing business.  Whatever book you’re reading now, chances are it debuted at LBF last year.  Like London Fashion Week, MIP, tiff, or the Cannes Film Festival, LBF is a taste-making trade fair – the place where the entertainment we love gets launched to the world.

I’ve been to LBF a number of times, and I’ll never forget my first visit as author just two years ago.  It was a real thrill to see my very first book on display at my publisher’s stand; after years living only as a Word doc, it was finally real!

Since then, I’ve been hard at work writing sequels, prequels, and dreaming up new characters for a whole new series.

And this year, I’m really excited to be speaking on two seminars, one on interactivity and the other on creativity.

On Wednesday afternoon (4 pm), I’ll join Freed Fiction and Made In Me to discuss and share my experience adding interactivity to the reading experience. Freed Fiction are the developers of the brand new MetaWars Blood Nexus interactive ebook trilogy.

Freed Fiction is a creative-led start-up; a really exciting young company to partner with.

Made In Me is a fantastic business that’s created a kid/parent focused ebook ecosystem for picture books (and now comic books too, hooray!) on mobile and tablet devices.

On Thursday afternoon (1 pm), I’ll be giving a seminar called Pushing Creative Boundaries.   I’ll share insight and perspective on doing things differently like a Pixar-inspired approach to including readers in the development of a book, working in a Bad Robot  creative model, and building immersive worlds to enable moving more seamlessly between page and screen.

I hope you can join in for these events, which are just two of a dizzying array of amazing seminars at this year’s LBF.

See you there!
