I’m a visual thinker, and a visual writer.
I choose to use words as my medium because it’s my belief that the power of suggestion unlocks images in the mind of the reader. It’s my job to put the words on the page so that you “see” the book in your own imagination; and not just see, but see, hear, feel, smell, and taste.
And so I was blow away by two pieces of fan art I received this week from the Marsh sisters. Check them out, they are incredible.
This first one by Bryony Marsh shows how Jonah is overshadowed. What I love about it is that it’s not clear by what, or by whom. Could it be his father? Matthew Granger? Or himself. Great art asks more questions than it answers.
This next image shows Sam, a highly conflicted character. She’s trying to be the best version of herself, but is hostage to her own history and upbringing. She’s a terrorist and a killer, but can she be redeemed?
