This week I’ve been back in Canada, in the Toronto area, launching all four MetaWars books! It was great to be back, see old friends and make new ones.
I thought I’d share a few highlights….
Flying over, I was starting to wish I’d packed my toque (that’s Canadian for winter hat)…

Ice berg season in Greenland.
The weather in Toronto wasn’t much warmer. It’s the end of April and I got snowed on twice!

Toronto: bleak but beautiful
Thanks to the team at Hachette UK Canada, I got put to work nearly straight away, signing books and giving talks…

At my desk!
Here’s me with a great display at Chapters Brampton! It was an awesome store with amazing staff, and made me feel like a rock star.

Me and my books!
I was kindly invited to speak to the team at Indigo’s home office. It was a real thrill being in the room with so many passionate professionals. We had a great Q&A, and it was a privilege to share the inspirations behind the novels with people who care so deeply about books.

Then it was onwards to meet and greet at Indigo stores, including Bay & Bloor where I signed books on a piano!! (and no, I didn’t do a song!)

Signing not singing.
And found more books at the Eaton Centre Indigo, where I met the staff and even did a little shopping for my boys.

Shelfie Selfie.
I did some media, including an in-studio interview, on CFRB 1010. You can listen to it here (audio should be up Monday 27th of April).

Newstalk…and book talk.
Of course, I made time to visit Corus / Nelvana for Trucktown, and we held a screening party for our two double-episodes. It was a chance to thank the team for delivering such an amazing show. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s on Treehouse and there are some great clips on YouTube. And I hung out with a good friend of mine….Jack Truck!

Jack and me!
And I got back to my hometown of Burlington to hang out at Chapters on Fairview. MetaWars is a staff pick (thanks Jamie!) and Becca and her whole team made me feel right at home!

Where I got to make my Mom proud!

And hang with some super fans!

As you probably know if you read this blog, I love doing school events, and this week I got to visit schools in the GTA. I have to give a special shout-out to John G. Althouse Middle School in Etobicoke for being such a great crew….especially Mrs. Hill’s grade six class!

Talking ’bout books.
So, big thank you to Chapters Indigo, especially the events team (Cammy fist-bump!), Hachette UK Canada, and TDSB. It was an awesome, whirlwind week, and I look forward to my next homecoming.
